"The Polish Movie Magazine FILM: Soviet Oversight vs. Western Alliance" Featuring Dr. Helena Goscilo
Dr. Helena Goscilo will be summarizing her research on popular film magazines in Poland. During the summer, she spent two weeks conducting research at the famous Lodz Film School Library and the Library of Lodz University. Her primary focus was on two film magazines that enjoyed a long life in Poland, FILM and KINO. A key question fueling her work was the extent to which these publications paralleled their Western, considerably better-known counterparts. It is one of the questions her talk, accompanied by copious images, will address. She was awarded a 2015 Polish Studies Initiative Grant to support her research.
