The Midwest Slavic Association would like to congratulate the Midwest Slavic Association Student Essay Prize winners, undergraduate Tom Elvins (University of Pittsburgh) and graduate student Madalina Veres (University of Pittsburgh).

Tom Elvins won the undergraduate portion of the competition with his essay titled "In the Shadow of the Sword: The Evolution of St. Nicholas Icons within a Russian Context." Madalina Veres won the graduate portion of the competition with her essay titled: "Mastering Space: The Great Military Map of Transylvania."
