In-school Presentations
Looking for experts on Central and Eastern Europe, Russia, the Caucasus, and/or Central Asia? CSEES has an 'Outreach Team' of graduate students, university professors, and native speakers who are experts in our region and who are available, free of charge, to come to your school to give presentations on a number of topics. Our teams are prepared with interactive presentations and hands-on activities for students of all ages.
From 1st-graders drawing Easter Eggs to high school seniors learning about the Soviet Union's role in WWII, CSEES' Outreach Team is prepared to teach on a great variety of topics. Here is a list of available presentations. If interested, please contact our Outreach Coordinator.
Artifact Boxes
If you are looking for some hands-on objects to teach about Russia, then an artifact box is for you! These boxes can be rented, free of charge, for a 2-week period and give great visuals to help teach about Russia and the former Soviet Union.
USSR vs. USA: Soviet and American Posters in WWII
The Ohio State University Center for Slavic & East European Studies is excited to offer P-12 teachers "USSR vs. USA: Soviet and American Posters in WWII." This colorful freestanding display compares WWII-era Soviet and American propaganda posters on a variety of themes, including "Women at War," "On the Home Front," and "Motivation to Fight." This display will be especially interesting to history and social studies classes, particularly those dealing with American history. Teachers may request this display for one week at a time, and the Slavic Center will arrange for delivery and pick-up.
