Add to Calendar 2019-04-05 17:30:00 2019-04-07 12:30:00 2019 Midwest Slavic Conference The Midwest Slavic Association and The Ohio State University (OSU) Center for Slavic and East European Studies (CSEES) are pleased to announce the 2019 Midwest Slavic Conference to be held at OSU in Columbus, Ohio on April 5-7, 2019. Preceding this year’s conference, the 22nd Annual Kenneth E. Naylor Memorial Lecture will be given by Dr. Panayiotis Pappas (Simon Fraser U.) about Greek in its Balkan context at 4:00PM on Friday, April 5th. The conference will then open with a keynote address by Dr. Vitaly Chernetsky (U. of Kansas) that will focus on cultural representations of the fall of Communism in Ukraine and other countries in Central and Eastern Europe. A plenary panel with Dr. Krisztina Fehervary (U. of Michigan), Dr. Venelin Ganev (Miami U.), and Dr. Mark Svede (OSU) focusing on the larger political, economic, and social impacts of 1989 will follow on Saturday morning. Panels by conference participants will then commence on Saturday and Sunday. Conference organizers invite proposals for panels or individual papers on all topics related to this year's theme.
