Prior to that, he was a senior fellow at Georgia’s renowned think tank – The Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies (GFSIS). More than a decade of work at GFSIS was primarily related with research and training. Dr. Gegeshidze’s professional expertise lay in the fields of regional security and co-operation in the South Caucasus and Euro-Atlantic integration. He is the author of numerous publications on Georgia’s foreign and security policy and transformation of regional conflicts.  Dr. Gegeshidze also lectured on globalization and development and provided training in policy analysis for young professionals and future leaders.Before joining GFSIS, Dr. Gegeshidze spent an academic year at Stanford University as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar.Dr. Gegeshidze worked for the Georgian government from 1992-2000 where he served as Assistant to the Head of State on National Security and Chief Foreign Policy Advisor to the President.Dr. Gegeshidze was born in 1956. He holds a PhD degree from the Tbilisi State University in Economic and Social Geography, and has achieved the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.In addition to his native Georgian, Dr. Gegeshidze is fluent in English and Russian. He also speaks French and some oriental languages.
