2016 K-12 Russian Olympiada

Students take a break between the commission of tasks at the Olympiada

The 2016 K-12 Russian Olympiada was a success! CSEES and the Department of Slavic and Eastern European Languages and Cultures hosted the event, which saw over 30 participants from three different schools. Participating schools included Columbus North International Middle and High School, Start Middle and High School in Toledo, and Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati. The competition had four different levels and the students were divided between them based on their Russian language skills. In each level, students had to answer questions about themselves, choose a themed card and speak on that topic, and recite a poem in Russian. There were three winners in each category. The students worked hard and their preparation paid off! There were also eleven judges that volunteered for the event and devoted their Saturday morning and afternoon to listening and judging the students. Thanks to all those who participated and helped!
