On Thursday, March 29th at 2:00pm Budimka Uskokovic (Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures) will discuss cultural and social and cultural changes in Serbia following the overthrow of Slobodan Milosevic. Abstract:This talk will provide an overview of some social and cultural changes after the 5 October Overthrow of Slobodan Milosevic. After a brief introduction of Serbia as an ever-changing country, the talk will consider differences and similarities in Serbia before and after this big historic event. First, I will show some common trends in this country, and how far it has come in terms of social growth and diversity. Second, I will show why it hasn’t become a member of the European Union yet. Third, I will talk about what steps it has to go through in process of joining the European Union.
