The Center for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies is excited to announce that it has awarded Professors Sunnie Rucker-Chang and Lorraine Wallace two curriculum development grants for the 2022-23 academic year.

Professor Rucker-Chang, an associate professor in the Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures and a CSEEES alumna, will design a new course “Mapping Migration, Bordering, and Racial Mobility.” The course will connect significant historical events to the longue durée of modern migration to, from, and within Europe, using theoretical frameworks from Cultural Studies, History, Legal Studies, and Sociology. The course will be open to both undergraduate and graduate students.

Professor Wallace, Associate Professor of Biomedical Education & Anatomy, will create a new course entitled “Medical Care and Health Security Across Eastern Europe: Cross-Border Considerations and Challenges” that will also be open to both undergraduate and graduate students and will be submitted for inclusion as a General Education: Health and Wellbeing theme course. Through this course, students will learn about medical care and health security within the context of Eastern European population health markers.
