Sascha Rohde is pursuing a Master's degree in Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies at CSEEES. He graduated with a BA in Russian from Carleton College; there, he began to translate a Soviet soldier's war diary in the summer of 2020 and first became interested in the translation of historical documents, as well as WWII's cultural legacy in Eastern Europe. In 2023, he won the Midwest Slavic Association Essay Contest with a paper on the ideological project of Soviet cookbooks. Sascha is continuing his Russian language studies in this program and is a beginning student of Ukrainian.
