CSEEES would like to congratulate Linguistics PhD student and graduate FLAS fellow Clayton Marr who was recently awarded the highest honor for graduate students in Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies, the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES) Beth Holmgren Graduate Student Essay Prize for his essay "'The Angevin–Albanian Element in the Albanian Lexicon.” ASEEES has over 3,200 members worldwide. Each year the outstanding scholars in the field are recognized by an array of prizes, but this is the only graduate student prize the association awards.

Clayton's essay also won the Midwest Slavic Association's (MWSA) 2023 graduate essay competition and was submitted as MWSA's regional nominee for this year's graduate essay prize. As the winner of the competition, Clayton will receive $300, free roundtrip domestic airfare to and accommodations at the ASEEES Annual Convention and an honorary ASEEES membership for the following year. The prize will be presented during the awards presentation at the Annual Convention.

Congratulations, Clayton!
