Passport to Eastern Europe and Eurasia
A classroom‑ready companion to CSEEES’ introductory country and regional modules
The Passport to Eastern Europe and Eurasia is a flexible, student‑friendly activity booklet designed to help K-14 educators introduce key cultural, historical, and geographic concepts from across the region. This activity is designed to be used alongside five of CSEEES' online learning modules—Poland, Ukraine, Albania, Uzbekistan, and Siberia.
The Passport includes:
- A biographical “passport” section and regional map, giving students a fun entry point into the activity.
- Prefilled country/region pages aligned with each module, featuring short comprehension questions and space for students to note something new they learned.
- Blank country pages that allow teachers to expand the “journey” to other countries using their own lessons or resources from our National Resource Center (NRC) partners.
- A flags activity, where students research and color the flags of Eastern Europe and Eurasia to reinforce geographic awareness and visual learning.
Teachers can use the Passport as a structured in‑class activity, a scavenger hunt, a homework assignment, or a recurring reflection tool as students move through the modules. To deepen engagement, they can also incorporate CSEEES' Culture Boxes. The culture boxes include select realia (objects and material from everyday life that can be used as teaching aids) from Eastern Europe and Eurasia including foreign currencies, toys, crafts, maps, posters, clothing items, and books. Currently, we have boxes for Poland and Uzbekistan and hope to create more that connect to our other modules as resources become available.

The Passport is ready-to-print and can be done in color or grayscale. Two passports can be made from one printable and are numbered to make sure the pages align correctly. We recommend printing this double-sided and flipped on the long edge of the paper.
The Passport guide provides an overview of how to use this in your classroom with CSEEES' modules. Additionally, this document includes the answer key to the questions in the Passport as well as optional stamps that can be printed and used with this activity.
