The Center for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies (CSEEES) would like to congratulate former FLAS fellow Christopher Leger and GIS student Victoria Paige for receiving dissertation grants from the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES). Leger received a Dissertation Research Grant for his project titled “Reddening the Riflemen: Mass Media, Symbolic Appropriation, and Memory Politics in Soviet-Occupied Latvia, 1953-1964.” Paige received a Summer Dissertation Writing Grant for her dissertation titled “Mother, Maiden, Martyr: Media Portrayals of Soviet Women in the Second World War.”
