Congratulations to Kira Foster on her Acceptance to Serve with the Peace Corps
CSEEES Academic Year FLAS Fellow Kira Foster has been invited to serve in Albania in an English Language Education position. She will be assigned to either a middle or high school to co-teach and, eventually, teach English as a foreign language to help increase the English proficiency of young Albanians. She has been actively pursuing her goal of becoming a Peace Corps volunteer since the end of her freshman year of college. Kira believes that this immersive and professional experience abroad will help prepare her for her future career as a Foreign Service Officer. After her service with the Peace Corps ends in 2025, she is planning on either continuing to teach English as a foreign language through a Fulbright scholarship, ideally located somewhere in Eastern Europe, or continuing her education with a Master’s in Strategic Peace and Conflict Studies at Collegium Civitas in Warsaw, Poland. She also plans to apply to either the Pickering or Rangel Graduate Fellowship program and to the Peace Corps Coverdell Graduate Fellows program, which will provide her with financial assistance and professional development opportunities as she continues her education.
