CSEES Awards $278,390 in FLAS Funding

CSEES has awarded a bumper number of 2019-20 Academic Year Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships, awarding 18 fellowships total representing $278,390 of funding for undergraduate and graduate students at The Ohio State University. Eight graduate students received the fellowship and 10 undergraduate students. The FLAS Fellowship is made possible through a Title VI Foreign Language and Area Studies grant from the International and Foreign Language Education division of the U.S. Department of Education, as well as generous matching funding from OSU's Graduate School.   • Michael Corsi, a graduate student in the Department of History who is studying advanced Russian
  • Brandon Harvey, a dual degree graduate student in Slavic and East European studies and the John Glenn College of Public Affairs who is studying intermediate Polish
  • Michael Kraemer, a graduate student in the Department of History who is studying advanced Russian
  • Ke Lin, a graduate student in Slavic and East European studies who is studying elementary Uzbek

  • Maxwell Parker, a graduate student in Slavic and East European studies who is studying advanced Russian
  • Nicholas Seay, a graduate student in the Department of History who is studying intermediate Uzbek
  • Victoria Andreev, an undergraduate student double majoring in business and Russian
  • Zachary Dudzik, an undergraduate student double majoring in computer science with a Slavic minor
  • Rachle Hutchison, an undergraduate student double majoring in Russian and neuroscience
  • Kristie Lam, an undergraduate student double majoring in political science and Russian
  • Helen McHenry, an undergraduate student double majoring in international studies and Russian
