Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

CSEES has won two major grants from the U.S. Department of Education under its Title VI National Resource Center (NRC) and Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship programs.  With this funding, CSEES will work as an NRC in Ohio and the Midwest to support language and area studies instruction; K-12 teacher training; lectures, conferences, and symposia; and outreach with K-12 schools and other postsecondary institutions.  Additionally, it will award FLAS fellowships to undergraduate and graduate students who are studying Less Commonly Taught Languages (Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian, Czech, Hungarian, Modern Greek, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Turkish, and Uzbek) and area studies.  These grants will enable CSEES to continue to be a leader in preparing experts on Eastern Europe and Eurasia and a resource for expanding the knowledge of these regions of the world in Ohio and the Midwest.

Funding from the Graduate School, the College of Art and Sciences, and the Office of International Affairs contributed to CSEES' successful Title VI proposal, making a truly competitive application!
