Mikhail Svirin Receives Honorable Mention for 2024 ASEEES Beth Holmgren Graduate Student Essay Prize

The Midwest Slavic Association (MWSA) would like to congratulate Mikhail Svirin (U. of Chicago, formerly Miami U.) who received an honorable mention during the selection process for this year's Beth Holmgren Graduate Student Essay Prize for an outstanding essay by a graduate student in Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies. Mikhail's essay “Counter-Monuments, Counter-Narratives: Grassroots Commemoration of Shuttle Traders in Post-Soviet Space” won the 2024 Midwest Slavic Association Essay Competition and was selected to represent MWSA in the annual competition hosted by the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES).
