To mark the day, from April 16 – 26, Cultures of Resistance Films will screen Stalking Chernobyl: Exploration after Apocalypse for free online. The film is available to view on Youtube. On April 26 at 19:00 GMT (3:00PM EST), Iara Lee, the director of the documentary, will discuss the film with special guest Oleg Shalashov, a “Chernobylogist” and stalker, and answer viewers' questions via Zoom and Facebook Live. About the film: Stalking Chernobyl: Exploration After Apocalypse, a documentary from Cultures of Resistance Films, examines the underground culture of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. Three decades after the world's most infamous nuclear disaster, wildlife has returned in the absence of human settlements. Meanwhile, illegal hiking adventurers known as "stalkers," extreme sports aficionados, artists, and tour companies have begun to explore anew the ghostly, post-apocalyptic landscape. About the director: Iara Lee, a Brazilian of Korean descent, is an activist, filmmaker, and founder/director of the Cultures of Resistance Network, an organization that promotes global solidarity and connects and supports agitators, educators, farmers, and artists to build a more just and peaceful world through creative resistance and nonviolent action!
