2017-11-16 17:30:00 2017-11-16 19:00:00 "Peace, Land, Bread" An Undergraduate Poster Forum on the Russian Revolution Proposals due Friday, November 3rd. The Center for Slavic and East European Studies is holding an undergraduate poster competition to mark the 100th anniversary of the Russian Revolution. All undergraduate students are invited to submit a poster proposal that presents a topic related to the Russian Revolution from any disciplinary perspective (examples include, but are not limited to, Russian revolutionary literature, cross-national ties between Russian revolutionary figures and social and political movements across the globe, or the history of Russian revolutionary groups). Proposal submissions will be accepted until Friday, November 3. The poster exhibit will take place on Thursday, November 16, 5:30-7:00PM in 140 Enarson Classroom Building. Students will need to submit their poster idea online, submitting a title and general abstract (5-6 sentences) of their topic and argument. Posters (24 x 31 inches) can be printed for free through the Office of Student Life’s Resource Room in the Ohio Union. On November 16, participants should be prepared to setup their poster at 5PM. During the exhibit, presenters will need to give a 5 minute oral presentation of their poster and topic to judges and audience members (faculty, students, and members of the general public). A panel of 3 judges will assess all posters in terms of aesthetic design (5 points), clarity of argument (5 points), and creativity (5 points). Barnes & Noble gift cards will be awarded as prizes to the top 3 posters: $50– 1stplace; $25 – 2nd place; and $15 - 3rd place.
