Nadja Velušček and Anja Medved, 2002) As a part of the Slovene Research Initiative, CSEEES is proud to present a screening of the film My Border (Moja meja/Il confine mio) with an introduction and discussion by Joseph Valencic. Valencic serves as a member of the Ohio Commission on Eastern European Affairs and also represents Slovenian communities in the United States for the international advisory board of Slovenia's Government Office for Slovenians Abroad. Access to this film is made possible by Kinoatelje.Synopsis: The film depicts Nadja Velušček's personal story about how the border defined her childhood, as her mother was Slovenian from the Italian side of the border and her father was from the Slovenian side. When they married in 1947, the family's life collided against the impenetrable wall between two worlds, Eastern and Western Europe. Two of the cities discussed in the film—Nova Gorica and Gorizia—are now celebrating their year as designated European Capitals of Culture for 2025.In Slovenian with English subtitles (written by Valencic). The film screening is being shown in conjunction with SLAVIC 2345.10 Introduction to Balkan Literature and Culture and is free and open to Ohio State students, faculty/staff, and members of the public.   160 Enarson Classroom Building America/New_York public
