Ohio State senior and CSEEES Academic Year FLAS Fellow Sarah Hohman received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) for the 2023-2024 academic year. She will be conducting her ETA in Moldova starting in September of 2023. A native of New Albany, Ohio, Sarah will complete her Bachelor of Arts in Russian this May. Having spent 7 months in Moldova in 2019/2020 as part of the National Youth Language Initiative for Youth, she is very excited to return and have the opportunity to use her Russian and Romanian language skills to help Moldovan students improve their English.

Having studied abroad previously, Sarah is passionate about the impact of study abroad on language skills and cultural understanding as well as its impact on students' world view. Upon her return, Sarah will be pursuing a master’s degree in Eastern European Studies focusing on language policy in the former Soviet Union.  In the future, she hopes to work coordinating and facilitating student exchange between the US and Eastern Europe.
