CSEEES Welcomes 2025-26 MA Cohort

On Friday, August 22 CSEEES welcomed four new students to its M.A. in Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies, as well as returning students Quinn Cline-Cook, Margot Hare, Sarah Hohman, Liam Martin, Devon Rancourt, and Sascha Rohde. This year, Margot will serve as CSEEES' Graduate Student Representative and will act as a liaison between the Center staff and its students. We are excited to have the following students join our program:
- Elena Burger has a B.A. in History with a minor in English from the University of California, Davis. With research interests in the Balkans and former Ottoman Europe, she will continue her study of Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian and begin her study of modern Turkish.
- Owen McNeely holds a B.A. in History and Political Science from The Ohio State University. In summer 2025, Owen was awarded the Title VIII Fellowship to study Romanian at Indiana University’s Summer Language Workshop. His research interests include Romanian and Moldovan history, politics, and culture. In particular, he intends to focus on nationalism and ethnicity in the Balkans, the effects of postwar migrations, and nation-building efforts.
- Tomas C. Scott has a background in Aeronautical Science from Florida Tech and an M.A. in International Relations from Norwich University. He will study Russian, focusing on international security, development, and regional dynamics in post-Soviet Eurasia. He aims to build a career in diplomacy.
- Parker Tysinger holds a B.A. in History with minors in Medieval Studies, Art History, Women’s Studies, and Religious Studies from Purdue University Fort Wayne. During her undergraduate career, she researched children’s experiences during the Holocaust, the effect of imperialism on Ukrainian culture, and the power of art, war, and imperialism.
This year's cohort will go on to study Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Turkish and Yiddish as well as area studies coursework.
Join us in welcoming our new and returning students!
