The Center for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies (CSEEES) at The Ohio State University partnered with an Ohio State faculty member to create an online module to introduce K-14 educators and their students to the culture and history of Romania through the examples of four cities where modern life takes place amidst historical structures.

Cultural Journeys to Romania: Old Places, New Spaces was created by Dr. Adela Lechintan-Siefer, Assistant Professor of Teaching in the Department of French and Italian and the Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures. “Cultural Journeys to Romania" uses the examples of Cluj-Napoca, Sighișoara, Sibiu and Târgu-Mureș to show the vibrant contemporary cultural life, from working churches to photography exhibitions to electronic music festivals, that takes place in and around historical structures dating back to the Roman Empire. You'll be inspired to continue to learn about the country's fascinating and diverse history, and maybe even start planning your vacation to Romania!

This module is part of a series of thirteen modules that CSEEES has funded to date through a U.S. Department of Education Title VI National Resource Center grant to CSEEES. Each module is meant to be a self-contained unit of instruction that K-14 students, K-14 teachers, undergraduate students, or other instructors can use either to educate themselves or to integrate into a unit that they are teaching.
