A delegation of scholars from Central Asia visited The Ohio State University last week as part of the U.S.-CARNet (U.S.-Central Asia Research Network) project. This project, which focuses on China and its role in Central Asia, is managed by the American Councils for International Education and is funded by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic. Six scholars engaged with Ohio State faculty, learned about the Center for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies (CSEEES) and the East Asian Studies Center (EASC), toured the university, and heard presentations on library holdings related to Central Asia and East Asia. Prior to coming to campus, the delegation spent two weeks in Washington, DC and visited the University of Pittsburgh. Each of the scholars will return to the U.S. for the spring 2025 semester to work on a collaborative research project with American scholars. Ohio State's visitor will be hosted by Felix Chang (Moritz College of Law) and CSEEES affiliate Sunnie Rucker-Chang (Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures, African American and African Studies). Keep an eye on the CSEEES and EASC websites for more updates this spring.
