In January, Kathryn Metz joined CSEES as its new outreach coordinator after living and working in Hungary for four
years. While in Budapest, Kathryn attended Central European University and interned at the Open Society Archives. She received an MA in human rights and international justice from Central European University. At the Open Society Archives, she analyzed evidence and organized documents relating to human rights violations during the wars in the former Yugoslavia. Prior to that, she taught English in Szeged, Hungary. As outreach coordinator, Kathryn will support CSEES’ outreach work with K-12 educational institutions, community colleges and minority-serving institutions and other entities throughout the state and the Midwest. In April, Kathryn created a teacher training workshop for K-12 teachers on the Holocaust in Hungary and the re-emergence of far-right wing political trends in the country today.
