In summer 2016, the Polish Studies Initiative (PSI) will launch an exciting new endeavor: a study tour to Poland for
adult, non-students. The seven-day trip will take participants to Warsaw and Gdansk and be led by Visiting Assistant Professor Daniel Pratt. Covering Poland’s past, present and future, this trip will explore Poland’s history and how it is changed since 1989, as well as the country’s connections to both the Catholic and Jewish religions. Throughout the tour, there will be a variety of lectures by Pratt and other experts from academic institutions in Poland. Highlights include visiting the Warsaw Uprising Museum, POLIN Jewish Museum, European Solidarity Center, Malbork Castle, and the Palmiry Museum, and a tour of Warsaw’s Old Town and high speed train service to Gdansk and a visit to its historic center.
The tour, Poland Old and New, will take place June 13-22. PSI is organizing the trip as a means of connecting with alumni; supporters of the initiative and the study of Poland; and community members. This is the first time organizing a trip of this kind and represents a thrilling new educational opportunity for non-students to learn about or reconnect with Poland. Through the trip, PSI will raise funds to support the initiative in the coming years, in particular for student scholarships and events.
