Marta Kolczynska, a PhD student in the Department of Sociology, published “Representation of Southeast European Countries in International Survey Projects: Assessing Data Quality,” in Ask: Research and Methods 23(1).
With Matthew Schoene, Kolczynska presented “Quality Control of Variables Harmonized Ex-Post: An Analysis of 22 International Survey Projects” at the Thirteenth International Workshop on Comparative Survey Design and Implementation in London in March. Also in March, Kolczynska presented at the Midwest Slavic Conference "How Political Is Trust in State Institutions? Analysis of the Polish Panel Survey 2013” and chaired the panel “Social and Political Change in Contemporary Poland: New Research from the Polish Panel Survey POLPAN.”
Megan Kupka received a summer FLAS to study in Saint Petersburg, Russia this summer. In addition, she received a scholarship from The Ohio State University Peace Society. Megan is a FLAS fellow and a Russian and international studies undergraduate.
Ian Lanzillotti accepted the position of assistant professor of history at Tennessee Wesleyan College. Ian is a 2014 PhD graduate from the Department of History and 2010 Fulbright-Hayes recipient.
Peter J. Marzalik, 2013 international studies BA graduate and former FLAS fellow, published an article, “Russia and North Korea Cozy Up,” in The Moscow Times on April 1, 2015.
Robin Smith, FLAS fellow and a political science and Russian undergraduate, received a Critical Language Scholarship to study in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia this summer.
Justin Wilmes accepted the position of assistant professor of Russian Studies at East Carolina University. Justin is a 2015 PhD graduate from the Department of Slavic and East European Languages and Cultures, a 2010 MA graduate from the Center for Slavic and East European Studies, and a former FLAS fellow.
